When Coren made her debut at the Advanced level in early 2010 she achieved a life goal that had been in the making since her earliest years as a beginner rider. Many of Coren’s earliest memories are of dreaming about one day competing at the Advanced level, so finally achieving this goal at the age of 22 was an especially sweet victory.
Coren is greatly respected by both her peers and her coaches for her dedication to her equine partners, her good sportsmanship and her natural ability to successfully ride a wide spectrum of horses– from the just getting started three year old to the successful Advanced level competitor. Coren’s commitment to excellence has driven her to seek out instruction from many of the sport’s greatest teachers and competitors including Bonnie Mosser, Emily Beshear, Buck Davidson, William Fox Pitt, Karen O’Connor, Moray Nicholson, Becky Holder, Bettina Hoy, Bruce Mandeville, Philip Dutton, and Boyd Martin. Through this impressive array of teachers and mentors she has learned how to both ride a horse and also how to pass on her knowledge to her own students. Her students will confirm that her focus on safety, basic technical skills, confidence, harmony and horsemanship is second to none. For these reasons and many others Coren is quickly emerging as a top competitor and coach on the American Eventing circuit.
Coren’s record speaks for itself. With numerous top placings from beginner novice to the intermediate levels of competition, Coren has proven that she has the base of knowledge to both train and compete all types of horses at many skill levels. This translates into a competitive record that regularly takes her to both national and internationally ranked competitions held in more than ten different states and Canada. She is a regular fixture at the majority of Area I, II and III horse trials and, since relocating to Charlottesville, VA in 2010, at local schooling competitions as well. Between competitions, she thrives on maintaining a packed schedule of instructing and coaching a local pony club, teaching private students, riding more than a dozen locally-owned horses, and a contributing writer to the popular eventing site, Eventing Nation.

Coren’s Equine Partners
Coren Morgan attributes much of her success to the excellent equine partners she has had the privilege to ride in nearly two decades of competing. Coren recognizes the unique strength and character that each horse has brought to her accomplishments.
Some of her personal favorites include: Tuff Is It, Huckleberry Finn, Higher Learning, Early Achiever and Ebb Tide.
In 2007, Coren traveled to England and, with the help of Moray Nicolson, found her current horse, Ebb Tide. Ebb Tide is a 13 year old Irish Sport horse. “Ollie”, as he is known in the stable, is a sensitive horse who takes his job very seriously. Ollie is a tremendous athlete. Ollie especially loves cross country and can hardly contain his enthusiasm before starting on course. Through the years, Ollie and Coren have developed a deep trust in each other. Together, Coren and Ollie will tackle the highest level of the sport in the years ahead.
